ASTRONOMY 301 - Introduction to Astronomy

Spring 2001

Final update: May 10, 2001

Classes: TTh 2 PM - 3:30 PM Welch 3.502
Instructor: John Kormendy
Office: RLM 15.324
Office Telephone: 471-8191
Email: kormendy@astro.as.utexas.edu

The final conversion from numerical to letter grade was as follows:

 A = 82 % or more (37 students)
 B = 70 - 81 % (56 students)
 C = 60 - 69 % (30 students)
 D = 44 - 59 % (17 students)
 CR = 44 - 100 % (10 students)
 F = less than 44 % (7 students; it looks like most intended to drop the course)

As a class, you did very well. There are far more As and Bs than the University expects when it says that B means "above average". In fact, the average grade in the course is B, not C. You should be proud of your work. I am, and I wish you all well in the future.
