ASTRONOMY 301 - Introduction to Astronomy

Fall 2000

Final update: January 24, 2001

Classes: TTh 11 AM - 12:30 PM Welch 3.502
Instructor: John Kormendy
Office: RLM 15.324
Office Telephone: 471-8191
Email: kormendy@astro.as.utexas.edu

The final conversion from numerical to letter grade was as follows:

 A = 83 % or more (55 students)
 B = 82 - 71 % (82 students)
 C = 70 - 60 % (32 students)
 D = 59 - 45 % (18 students)
 F = less than 45 % (10 students; it looks like most intended to drop the course)

As a class, you did very well. There are far more As and Bs than the University expects when it says that B means "above average". In fact, the average grade in the course is B, not C. You should be proud of your work, as I am. I wish you all well in the future.
